BPOM instructed importers to temporarily stop the circulation or sale products ice cream with a composition containing vanilla flavor until the product is confirmed to be safe.
Meanwhile, ice cream registered with the POM can still be circulated in the country.
The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency ( BPOM ) asked importers to immediately withdraw product ice cream Haagen-Dazs vanilla
This recall was ordered because ice cream contained excessive levels of Ethylene Oxide (EtO).
"To protect the public, BPOM has instructed importers to withdraw from circulation the two products ice cream . And, also expand the recall to other types of packaging, namely bulkcan (9.46 L)," explained the POM Agency, quoted by ZonsSurabayaRaya.com, Wednesday 20 July 2022.
The information mentioned the finding of Ethylene Oxide (EtO) with excessive levels in the product .
The products that were recalled were ice cream with vanilla flavor in pint packaging and mini cup.
Meanwhile, products ice cream with the same brand for 100 ml and 473 ml packages imported from France are registered with the POM and circulated in Indonesia.
Furthermore, on July 6, 2022, authorities in France through RappelConso and Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) published public information regarding the voluntary recall ice cream by producers, because it contained EtO.
Meanwhile, on July 8, 2022, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) ordered importers to recall the product
The withdrawal product ice cream originated from information from the European Union Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (EURASFF) which was received by the Indonesia Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (INRASFF) on July 8, 2022.
