Benny said Geologist Titi Bachtiar wrote in his book, Bandung Purba, that the word 'malela' is an expression of admiration for the people of Tatar Sunda for something more than usual.
This waterfall has steps, of course, it will captivate the eye when the water discharge is high in the rainy season. The falling water is like a white curtain that covers clay rocks that are millions of years old.
In fact, Curug Malela is one of the seven waterfalls located in Cicadas Village, Rongga, West Bandung. There are Curug Katumbiri, Curug Manglid, Curug Ngebul, Curug Sumpel, Curug Palisir and Curug Pameungpeuk.
2. Curug Cimahi
The second featured waterfall is Curug Cimahi. This waterfall is also very popular as Curug Pelangi has a height of 80 meters.
The water that falls from this waterfall comes from Situ Lembang, which irrigates the City of Cimahi and its surroundings.
The name Curug Cimahi itself comes from the words 'ci' or water and 'mahi' which means enough in Sundanese.
According to Benny, administratively Curug Cimahi is located in Kertawangi Village, Cisarua, West Bandung Regency.
Tourists can use public transportation, travelers can go to Lembang and take an angkot that goes to Lembang - Cisarua to get here.
Hundreds of descending stairs will greet tourists after setting foot past the ticket post for Curug Cimahi or what is now known as Curug Pelangi.
Indeed, it takes extra struggle to enjoy the freshness waterfall directly. Tourists also need to be careful when climbing stairs, especially during the rainy season.
Tourists can also see herds of long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis) hanging from the trees from the unspoiled nature around the waterfall.
Arriving at the base of Curug Cimahi, tourists can immediately enjoy the fresh lake. However, there is a prohibition to swim there because the depth of the lake reaches more than two meters.
3. Citambur waterfall in South Cianjur
It is said that the name Citambur is associated with a local legend, namely Prabu Tanjung Sanghyang Anginan who often visits the place to purify and meditate. The king's arrival was followed by his followers who played drums or dogdogs whose sounds could be heard in remote villages.
Another story, the name Citambur comes from the sound of splashing water from the top of the cliff hitting the rocks below, causing a sound like the sound of a drum.
It is not known which story is true regarding the origin of his name, what is clear is that Pasir Angin is the name of a village adjacent to Karangjaya Village.
tourist destination is located in South Cianjur, precisely in Karangjaya Village, Pasirkuda District. This waterfall has a height of 100 meters, which makes it the highest waterfall in West Java and the seventh highest in Indonesia.
The contours of the tiered waterfall blend harmoniously with the shady trees. The water that comes down from the springs in the Pemangkuan Hanyawar Timur 2 Resort area is very clear. However, visitors are not advised to swim there, given the swift water and steep rocks.
It is recommended to use a private vehicle in prime condition, because the road access there is narrow and also rocky.
Although the road conditions are not so good, the beautiful view of Curug Citambur can pay for it all.
