California Man Breaks World's Hottest Chili Record
Gregory Foster is a world record-breaking man from the Guinness Book, eating three Carolina Reaper chilies in 8.72 seconds each bite.
The Carolina Reaper chili has a Guinness world record as the hottest chili in the world , having an average spiciness level of 1,641,183 Scoville Heat Units (SHU).
Hotter than Jalapeno with a spicy level of 2,500 to 8,000 SHU and cayenne pepper which has a spicy level of 100,000 SHU.
Foster managed to quickly finish off three of the hottest chili peppers in the world. Beating the previous world record that was Mike Jack from Canada. Jack is able to eat the Carolina Reaper for 9.72 seconds.
Before breaking the record, Foster was known to often practice eating small chilies in order to be able to chew and swallow quickly and automatically.
According to Foster this is a mechanical exercise as well as muscle memory.
This world record is not the first for Foster, in 2016 he set the record for eating the most Carolina Reaper in one minute.
Foster was able to finish 120 grams of chili in just 60 seconds.
In October 2020, Foster tried to eat 123 Carolina Reaper pieces in one sitting to reach the rankings in the League of Fire's Reaper Challenge
However, Foster could only eat forty-four chilies before he gave up on vomiting them.
Challenge Reaper League of Fire is Greg " Iron Guts " Barlow from Australia.
He managed to eat one hundred and sixty Carolina Reapers 38 more chilies than the second place holder.
